Basic Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2)

Basic Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2) includes all 6 required courses, NWCG S-190, S-130, L-180, FEMA I-100 , and IS-700B. The S-130 Field Day is 8 hrs.

This Course is a computer based course. You can complete the following required Basic Fighter courses by clicking on each of the course links below: 

• IS-100 Introduction to the Incident Command System 

• S-110 Basic Wildland Suppression Orientation

• S-130 Firefighter Training (Blended)

• S-190 Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior

• IS-700.B National Incident Management System (NIMS) An Introduction

• L-180 Human Factors in the Wildland Fire Service (4 hrs)

 

To be fully certified as a Basic Wildland Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2),  you will be required to complete an S-130 Field Day. This includes field day with engines and hand tools. The field day includes the work capacity test (pack test). You must come to field day with your own personal 45# pack. FFT2 TRAINEES MAY TAKE THE S-130 FIELD DAY PRIOR TO COMPLETING THE ON-LINE COURSE WORK. A CERTIFICATE FOR COMPLETING THE COURSE AND THE PACK TEST WILL BE ISSUED UPON COMPLETION.

RT-130 Annual Refresher

The RT-130 Annual Refresher is 4 hours in length. RT-130 is required for designated positions in order to maintain currency, for all personnel assigned to positions with fireline duties, and for any position assigned to the fireline for non-suppression tasks.

Work capacity tests/Pack tests are used to ensure that persons assigned to fire activities are physically capable of performing the duties of wildland firefighting. Both Pack Test and Walk Tests are available prior to the course. You must come to field day with your own personal 45# pack.
